What this site is

The Truffle Encyclopedia is an editorial reference about culinary truffles — species, season, prices, hunting, cultivation, kitchen practice. It is written for cooks, restaurateurs, importers and curious eaters who want a steady source of truffle knowledge in plain language, grounded in named regions and seasons.

The site is published in six languages — English, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Russian — and has a German-language sister edition at trueffel-shop.com. Every article is hreflang-linked across all editions.

How we work

Articles are commissioned, written and edited in-house. Where a piece reports on a market — Alba, the Périgord, Swiss cantons — we name the source: a fair, a hunter, a producer, a published yearbook. We do not invent quotes. We do not stage prices. Where a number depends on the day, the year or the species, we say so.

We update articles when something material changes — a season shift, a regulation, a new cultivation result. The "Updated" date at the top of every article reflects the most recent editorial revision; the underlying article identity (URL, schema) stays stable.

How we make money

The site is supported by display advertising (Google AdSense) and is editorially independent. We do not run paid placements, sponsored articles or affiliate-driven product recommendations. Advertisers cannot purchase coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be labelled Sponsored at the top of the article and excluded from species and topic indexes.

Corrections and contact

If you spot an error — a wrong Latin name, a price out of date by a season, a regional rule we missed — please write to info@truffle-shop.com. We treat corrections as a serious editorial obligation; substantive fixes are noted in the article footer.
